Château Moulis
The only wine bearing the name of the appellation
HISTORY & SAVOIR-FAIRE
Château Moulis is a great Bordeaux wine but also one of the oldest châteaux of the eponymous appellation. On the other hand, Château Moulis 2015 is the first vintage produced by the Guillot family.
You will discover here the know-how and techniques put in place by the family as well as the main characteristics of this emblematic wine.
Blending: 70% Merlot / 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Its vines are grown on gravelly and clayey soils.
Château Moulis is available in 75cl bottles and magnums (1.5l).
The family decided, from the very beginning of its project, to work in sustainable agriculture and to have a cultural ethic that, although not organic, is similar to it through the use of certified organic products.
Throughout the family vineyard, tillage is carried out, prohibiting herbicides and allowing aeration of the soil as well as underground life. Inter-row cultivation is done if necessary according to the climatic conditions of the year.
As for vinification, the highest quality batches are sent directly to new 500-litre oak barrels after the harvest and then matured in the same barrels as well as in new 225-litre oak barrels.
It was bottled in April 2018. As you can see, the ageing in oak barrels is long for Château Moulis!
Critics say that this vintage is “round, juicy and expressive, which makes it an absolute pleasure to taste today. Notes of cedar, tobacco and menthol add nuances. Galloni would prefer to drink young 2015, while the fruit keeps its freshness.”
For the little story, Château Moulis also exists in rosé. It is a rosé, produced in very small quantities, because it comes from the bleeding of our best batches, reserved for the winemaking of Château Moulis Rouge. What is its purpose? By extracting the first juices to make a rosé, we increase the concentration of these best batches to perfect the complexity and structure of Château Moulis, a great red wine from Bordeaux!
Château Graveyron Poujeaux
An exceptional wine for winelovers of great wines
HISTORY & SAVOIR-FAIRE
When the Guillot family embarked on this beautiful wine-making adventure, they decided to create Château Graveyron Poujeaux. The first vintage will be released in 2013.
You will discover here the know-how and techniques put in place by the family as well as the main characteristics of this great Bordeaux wine.
Blending: 80% Merlot / 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Its vines are grown on gravelly and clayey soils.
Château Graveyron Poujeaux is available in 75cl bottles and magnums (1.5l).
As for the vinification, it takes place in tanks of 20 to 30 hectolitres, all temperature-controlled and its highest quality batches are sent directly into new 500-litre oak barrels after the harvest. It is aged exclusively in new oak barrels.
The 2015 bottling was done in April 2018 and 2016 is still slowly aging in barrels.
Critics have said a lot of good things about this great Bordeaux wine. From its first vintage, it even won the gold medal at the Lyon International Competition.
Concerning the 2014 vintage, “its bouquet is fresh, perfumed and slightly floral with strawberry and bright red cherry. Soft in the mouth and slightly less acid than its pairs, it evolves favourably to have a consistent finish. Château Graveyron Poujeaux 2014 is round, juicy, with a signature in its own right, at its peak between 2017 and 2026. Dense, powerful and very concentrated, it explodes in the mouth. It is in no way typical of the appellation but the pure beauty of this wine cannot be denied.”
And this year, Château Graveyron Poujeaux 2015 won the gold medal at the Elle à Table wine competition. And here are the notes of the critics:
“Deep garnet colour. Superb nose of roasted blackcurrant, cranberry, ripe plum, delicate sapy and slightly chocolaty notes, all coated with a fine toasted taste. Silky and vinous flesh that remains concentrated and crisp. A refined breeding is there just to highlight and reveal smoky and cocoa flavours. Long, fine and balanced finish!”
Château Jordi
The only single varietal wine of the estate
HISTORY & SAVOIR-FAIRE
In 2012, when the Guillot family took over a few hectares within the AOC Moulis, it also acquired the stock of the former family that owned the land.
This wine is Château Jordi and is sold by the Guillot family before Château Graveyron Poujeaux is bottled. Indeed, the wine adventure is a long-term project….
The only vintage of Château Jordi still existing today is 2007 and is available in 75cl bottles.
Its blend is 100% Merlot.
The vines that made this wine are between 35 and 40 years old and are planted on very clayey soil.
This vintage has reached maturity and is therefore ideal for consumption (with moderation!) now.
